State Bar Charges Lawyer Who Urged Clients To Break Into Their Foreclosed Home In Simi Valley

Posted on: March 14, 2011

After attorney Michael T. Pines advised a Simi Valley couple who just lost their home through a valid non judicial foreclosure – a trustee’s sale- to break into, and move back into thier previous, now vacant, home (they were soon evicted), this wildly errant attorney was summarily taken out of action by the State Bar on Friday, 2/10/11. The Bar announced that it has initiated proceedings to revoke the license of Carlsbad attorney Michael T. Pines who made national headlines by advising clients to break into their foreclosed homes and start living there again. The State Bar’s Chief Trial Counsel James Towery called the move “a drastic remedy,” but insisted it was “justified by the established misconduct” of Pines, 59, who “has shown complete disrespect for the law, the courts and especially the best interests of his clients, which necessitated his removal from active practice”, Towrey said.
